Elyn was elected to Senedd Cymru (the Welsh Parliament) on May 8, 2026.

Following her election, she was appointed to:
- the Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee and
- the Standards of Conduct Committee.
Her political work centers on tackling child poverty—including pushing for updates on the Welsh Government's Cynnal child payment—expanding adult education, and championing the rights and accessibility needs of disabled people in the workplace and classrooms.
Professional Background & Local Government (2017–2022)
Prior to entering the Senedd, Elyn worked as the Office Manager to Heledd Fychan MS, a Tuition Senior Assistant for the Open University, and a DWP Work Coach.
Elyn began her elected political career in May 2017 when, at age 25, she was elected as a Plaid Cymru councillor for the Ystrad ward on the Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. During her term, which ended in 2022, she chaired the Gelli Flood Action Group, helped stop the sale of local green land, and successfully pioneered a campaign to provide free period products in all schools across the borough. The initiative was later adopted by the Welsh Government as a national pilot and rolled out across Wales.
Early Career and Formative Years
Before entering local government, Elyn built up early experience in political advocacy as a caseworker and Office Manager for Jill Evans MEP at a European level. Her interest in Welsh politics deepened significantly during the 2011 referendum campaign on further powers for Wales while she was studying at university.
Roots and Early Life
Elyn grew up in Treherbert in the Rhondda Fawr, where she still lives today. Raised alongside her sisters as a young carer for her mother, she developed an early understanding of family responsibility and public support systems. Her parents were passionate advocates for the Welsh language and sent her to Welsh-medium education, leading Elyn to graduate from Aberystwyth University with a BA in Welsh and International Politics.
As a deaf woman who was not given the opportunity to learn to sign as a child, Elyn’s personal experience navigating an inaccessible world heavily drives her advocacy for disabled people. She is equally passionate about empowering the next generation, standing as a strong advocate for young people and their active engagement in the democratic process.
