Dear Treorci, Cwmparc and Ynyswen Resident,

Firstly, I’d like to thank you for supporting me in the recent Senedd election, where I was elected to the Welsh Parliament to serve Afan Ogwr Rhondda, alongside my Plaid Cymru colleagues, Alun Cox and Elyn Stephens.

Thank you for all your kind words and support. I feel honoured to be able to represent you at the Senedd, and can assure you I will work hard and represent you to the best of my abilities.

Serving you, the residents of Treorci, Cwmparc and Ynyswen as Councillor for the Ward for the past 18 years has been one of the greatest honours of my life and I am deeply grateful for the trust and support that the community has placed in me during this time. We’ve achieved a lot; from reinstating bus services, to improving roads, and from supporting victims of flooding to advocating for better services in health and education. It has been a privilege to work alongside my fellow Plaid Cymru Councillors and so many individuals, businesses and community groups to make a positive impact on our community.

Arrangements will now be made by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to elect a replacement Councillor for the Ward. We have an excellent candidate for Plaid Cymru in Richard Clarke, who has worked tirelessly and energetically in our community on many local campaigns. I’m proud to back Richard, and both he and I will support you to achieve the best for our local community. We’ll be a strong, united and local team for Cwmparc, Treorci and Ynyswen.

I am hoping to establish my office very shortly and will share further details with you as soon as possible.

Once again, thank you for your support.

Sera Evans MS

  • Support for Families

    💡Did you know?
A Plaid Cymru Government will introduce a universal childcare programme - the most comprehensive Wales has ever seen, and the most generous childcare offer in the UK.
  • The momentum is with us!

    poll2.jpg

This week's YouGov Poll was a fantastic gift for the new year, but it is just that: a poll. Turning it into reality will require your help and support.

We have a genuine chance of securing THREE seats in Afan Ogwr Rhondda. Polling suggests that as few as 500 additional votes could get us over the line, electing Sera Evans, Alun Cox, and Elyn Stephens and stopping Reform UK from gaining the sixth seat.

One extra Plaid Cymru Senedd Member and one fewer from Reform, standing up for Wales and the people of Afan Ogwr Rhondda.

Imagine the difference having three elected representatives could do for the people of Afan Ogwr Rhondda?

Even an hour of your time would make a difference, and you don't have to knock on doors; posting election literature through 70,000 letterboxes will take some effort.

Email [email protected] to let us know if you can help in any way, and sign up for the Afan Ogwr Rhondda campaign WhatsApp group.

  • Plaid Cymru candidates for Afan Ogwr Rhondda speak out against job losses and green energy cuts

Senedd candidates for Afan Ogwr Rhondda, Sera Evans, Alun Cox and Elyn Stephens are appalled and angered by the loss of hundreds of jobs in the Rhondda due to City Energy Group, which owns Consumer Energy Solutions, going into administration.

The group has said that the proposed restructure and job losses were the result of the end of the UK Government-backed energy scheme ECO4, which it operated.
The initiative, which helped homeowners save on home energy upgrades such as insulation, solar panels and heat pumps, is due to come to an end this year.

  • School transport

The Plaid Cymru team in Afan Ogwr Rhondda is supporting parents and carers in their campaign against cuts to home to school transport by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, which has recently withdrawn school transport from some school pupils in the county borough.

This continues to be a hard-fought campaign by parents and carers, and opposition councillors. School pupils and their parents and carers now have to either arrange their own private transport to school or walk in all weather conditions. Recent poor weather conditions have meant misery and illness, resulting in lower attendance for some pupils.

Plaid Cymru lead candidate for the Senedd election in Afan Ogwr Rhondda, Sêra Evans, has been campaigning alongside parents, carers and pupils. Listen to one of her speeches at Council meetings here:
